Violet Hill is in a perfect location to all the historic downtown stores. It is a beautiful home with original furnishings and offered us a very relaxing trip. Ms. Zeffie is a great cook and a joy to visit with. We had never stayed at a B&B but we're so glad we did. The room was very spacious with a private bath with shower and claw foot tub. We had keys to the house and could come and go as we pleased. Very nice deck down by the river and a cool breeze in the evenings. Definitely recommend.

Rooms

We stayed in Stem Wheeler room with king sized bed and large private bath. Three large windows and beautifully decorated.


Walkability

Was walking distance to historic downtown and river walk


Food & drinks

They supplied bottled water and ice machine in hallway and even had lots of tea packets and a microwave available. Breakfast was really nice every morning at 8:30 and Ms. Zeffie is an excellent cook.


Noteworthy details

Beautiful squeaky wooden floors, antique furnishings and beautiful draperies. This house is a beautiful example of an older fine home. We enjoyed the large breezy back porch and especially the nice view down on the river. There is plenty of seating on their deck waterside and even a nice ceiling fan to keep a breeze going.

Elegant and inviting, the Violet Hill parlor showcases richly adorned walls, a grand fireplace, and a view down the hall and staircase to the second floor. Also you can see through another doorway into a beautifully set dining room, all illuminated by ornate chandeliers.
