Enjoying BnB Stays in Natchitoches

My wife and I celebrated an anniversary/birthday at two properties owned by Judge Porter LLC. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at both the Andrew Morris and Violet Hill B&B Houses. Angela (the Property Manager) was very patient, courteous and professional in greeting us upon arrival and showing us rooms at 3 of the properties. The Violet Hill is on the River, and the Andrew Morris is one block off Front Street making it an easy walk to the River and other points of interest downtown.

Angela, Sherri and Linda at the Andrew Morris and Zeffie at the Violet Hill all provided excellent customer service and were so pleasant to talk with. They answered all of our questions and was very welcoming. And, the morning breakfasts were awesome!

Our rooms were very clean, comfortable and safe. Thanks to the entire staff who made our trip to Natchitoches wonderful memorable visit!

On a side note, one should be aware of the odd taste of the tap water. In addition, the check out by the home hostess runs your credit card and shows suggested tipping on the total bill from 18%, 20%, etc. We have never seen this type of payment practice and found it a bit awkward.

Management Response to Review:

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience and for celebrating your anniversary and birthday with us at both the Andrew Morris House and the Violet Hill Bed and Breakfast! A five-bubble review is the highest compliment, and we are thrilled to know your visit was a wonderful and memorable one.

We are incredibly proud of our team. It’s a joy to see Angela recognized for her patient and courteous welcome, as she truly sets the tone for our guests’ stays. We will certainly pass along your kind words to Sheri and Linda at Andrew Morris and Zeffie at Violet Hill. Their dedication to providing excellent customer service and welcoming interaction is what makes our B&Bs special, and we’re glad you enjoyed the awesome morning breakfasts they prepared!

We also appreciate your feedback regarding the less pleasant aspects of your stay, which helps us ensure future guests have a perfect experience.

  1. Tap Water: You are absolutely correct that Natchitoches tap water has a distinctive, often noted taste due to our local water treatment process and natural mineral content. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. We make a dedicated effort to ensure complimentary bottled water is stocked in all our rooms and common areas, and we encourage guests to use this for drinking, particularly those who are sensitive to the local taste.

  2. Tipping Suggestion: We understand that the way the point-of-sale system displays suggested gratuities at check-out can feel awkward and unexpected, especially in a B&B setting. We utilize the same standardized POS system as many restaurants and hospitality venues, which defaults to displaying these percentages. Please know that tipping is entirely optional and is never expected or required. We regret that this made your departure feel uncomfortable.

Thank you again for choosing us for your special occasion. We look forward to welcoming you back to Natchitoches soon!

Warmly,

The Judge Porter LLC Team Andrew Morris House & Violet Hill B&B
